For more than 50 years, the Hoe & Hope Garden Club membership has consisted of community members of all ages and backgrounds, from Longmont and the surrounding areas.
There are abundant activities to participate in that are sure to enhance your gardening skills, while forming new friendships. Civic Projects throughout the community may consists of, planting vegetables at The OUR Center, trimming roses and maintaining beds at Roosevelt Park, or cleaning beds at Callahan House or Central Elementary, to name a few.
Periodic field trips are scheduled throughout the year as another great way to gain some additional knowledge, or just have fun being together. We have visited gardens, nurseries and farms in the community, as well as exploring the Water Conservancy in Berthoud, Plant Select gardens in Fort Collins, Jack’s Solar Farm in Longmont, and visits to NOAA and NCAR to learn about climate change and how weather on the sun affects our earth. We are always exploring, learning, and staying curious.
Guest speakers from local garden centers and farms, Colorado University Professors, authors from local publications, and members of our club enrich us with their knowledge, expertise and passions at our monthly meetings. It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or a seasoned master gardener, we know you will find that inner gardener within you, and learn and enjoy it as much as we do. Come join us at one of our meetings, and see for yourself.
Visitors are always welcome; however membership is encouraged after attending two meetings. Annual dues are $25.00 per active member, or $35.00 per family membership.
Annual dues are payable before January 1st. Individuals joining after July 31st will only be asked to pay partial dues for that year: $12.50 per active member, or $17.50 per family membership.
Active members and those joining under a family membership are encouraged to participate in meetings, serve as hosts during meetings, participate in civic projects and fundraisers, and participate in leadership and committee positions.
